Sawatdee-kaa! April 12, 2008Posted by merp in Animules, Life, Travel.
Sawatdee-kaa! But not from Thailand any more, alas. This is me 3 weeks ago snorkeling off the Similan Islands off the Andaman Coast of Thailand, in the company of a great many fish:
Especially these little guys – they followed us everywhere:
All three of these photos were taken by David, the only one of us with a waterproof camera. What’s not shown here is the actual scuba diving we did. We saw sea turtles, sea snakes, gigantic sea cucumbers, a puffer fish, an octopus, and lots more. The visibility was amazing – up to 30m. And A. and I are now certified open water divers!
Our nine-day trip through southwestern Thailand also featured rainforest:
Sa Nang Manora Forest Park, Phang Nga
Incredible karst limestone formations:
Phang Nga Bay
And a night in a village on stilts:
Ko Panyee, Phang Nga Bay
It was a wonderful vacation. But next time I go to Thailand, I really need to learn some Thai. Note the absence of people in my photos. Smiling is great, but words go further.
