Radical life change June 22, 2006Posted by merp in Life.
Ok, could be more extreme. We’re not moving. I’ve lived in the same town (non-continuously) for 5 years now. We’re not breaking up, getting married, or having a baby. No one has died, no one is ill.
But I do now have a full-time job, after 5 years on fellowship (7, actually, but broken up by a valuable year working in Chicago). And I’m still working on my dissertation. The structure of my time is now radically, radically different.
I think you can see the implications. Less sleep, less random surfing of the Internet, less Buffy, less knitting, and – yes – less blogging.
On the plus-side, I get to be a contributing member of society again! I’m the new Program Director for the Asian Educational Media Service at the U of I. I’m really happy about it – it’s exactly the right sort of job for me at this point. ‘Nuff said about that – this is not a professional blog!
But if I seem to be checking in less here, well that’s why.
