I encourage procrastination.
Check this out:
…on the opening page, scroll down through the announcements till you get to “Yo Yo’s Latest!” and below that, “Listen to the WFMT Concert.” You get a full-length stream of Ma’s Silk Road concert at Chicago’s Symphony Center, complete with interviews. Good stuff. And good for Yo-Yo for making a statement on visa restrictions. (We saw/heard him here at Krannert Center on the 7th. He did three Bach Cello Suites–exquisite.
And how about So Percussion:
…click on “music” on the top bar, then “records,” then scroll down for several movements of a piece.
And while you’re at it, if you want to listen to almost any Anglo-American folk song in the public domain, along with a wealth of information, check out Roger McGuinn’s Folk Den (as in, Jim McGuinn of the Byrds, yes).
And one of my current enthusiasms, the slightly quirky Abigail Washburn. She writes bluegrass songs in Chinese and plays banjo. We’re going to see her at the Old Town School in June. No clue what we’ll do with the puppy….
And Josh Ritter’s new album is available in full, streamed here–an Oberlin grad, singer-songwriter.
There. That’s got to be at least 5 hours worth of great music you didn’t know was there.
